Do you feel called to work in holistic practice? Do you love homeopathy and wonder what studying is like and working in this amazing field? Earlier graduates of our practitioner level Course in Professional Modern Homeopathy Laura and Beck sat down to talk to us about what it’s like to study homeopathy and what it’s now like working as a homeopathic practitioner here at Return to Health. Both have hit the ground running with us here in the clinic and in their own private practices.
Watch the video below, or keep reading, to enjoy a quick Q&A with them both. If you’ve been curious about the professional course, we’re sure you’ll love hearing from them.
Laura, what was it like studying at Return to Health and how long did the course take you?
So we studied homoeopathy with El – I think the course probably went for a good 18 months. And I think the coolest part for me was the personal growth that came from studying. You take yourself on your own journey and it’s a journey of self-discovery and growth, and alongside that, obviously there’s all the learning and the cases that are being taken.
I really think the bit that most stood out for me was how you grow into a new version of yourself because it forces you really to delve deep into your own stuff.
I feel like that’s such an important part of being a homeopath is being able to see other people where they are. Even if you’re only a little bit further on the journey than they are, it’s being able to put out a hand and help them move forward and reach the point that they want to get to.
What has it been like stepping into being a homeopathic practitioner?
Laura: It’s been so amazing. So I am a busy mum of four little people and being able to move into a workspace that I guess supports both my family life and my professional life has been really exciting.
I think as a mum, despite where you are in the household and how supportive your hubby is, you carry the mental load of ensuring everyone else is okay.
Being a homeopath, apart from the fact you get to treat your family and support your loved ones in that way, as a job, it really allows you to still be the mum that you want to be while moving to a career that you’re really proud of.

Beck, what was the support like during the course?
We were really supported throughout the course. El our teacher was always there and she still is with questions and stuff and we just had, I think it helped also having Laura as well, so we’ve can all bounce off each other and yeah, just with the, the personal growth as well to getting me to where I am now and seeing where I was when I began has really given me the confidence in myself and the empowerment to step into this next role and journey.
How did you both find the time to study?
Laura: You keep chugging along
Beck: Yeah and you learn to manage your time better and realise that you have to give yourself more time to be able to funnel all this energy into all the different parts, and then you also eventually start dropping things off that no longer serve you and you don’t have space for anymore.
Laura: And I think as mothers, we really struggle with boundaries for ourselves and finding that time and space. So I think when you have something you’re passionate about, you’ll make the time and the space to do it. Even if it’s like, I’d put the kids to bed and I’d be up from, I don’t know, eight 30 until 11 studying, and you kind of just make time.
Beck: You just love it. You love it. You’re just immersed in it and it’s not a chore. And it’s like, it’s not, oh, I have to do this. It’s just, yeah, you just love it.
Laura: You do just make the time.
